Gossip Girl Season 4 Episode 6 'Easy J'. I'm perfectly convinced that Blair's shirt and shorts sleep combo was one of the key fashion highlights of the whole episode. And from my googling efforts, it looks like other GGers feel the same. I don't think we've made an id on these PJs yet, so if you've got information- please step forward!

Come down rain
My green Hunter original adjustable wellington boots arrived in the mail a few days ago and I honestly couldn't be happier since I have an unhealthy obsession about them. Except for the fact that the heavy downpour of rain finished the day before the Hunters came (of course it had to happen like that). Will have to save my puddle jumping action for later.

the whole world is a stage
Clockwise from top lef: Philosophy; Jason Wu; Rodarte
Looking at a designer's labor of love walking on elaborate and unique runways really does add a whole new dimension to the experience. (Not that there's anything wrong with a classic runway, which I assume are created such that it's only about the designs. So that nothing detracts and distracts from fashion itself.)
Of the ones I've taken note of... Rodarte gets about 100 bonus points for creativity in putting those lights in the crates (is that what you would call it?) and constructing something that won't look out of place at an art installation. But then again, every Rodarte piece is a work of art so maybe that's the whole point! I approve of Jason Wu's catwalk just as much- it's a walkable shiny disco ball and its dark tones does wonders! (The Philosophy runway was just a bit crazy...)

weightless
There are simply some fabrics in the world where photos just won't do. BCBG used such light soft silks for SS11 that the dresses literally floated down the runway and all I could do was admire the movement. This is really minimalism speaking for itself. In my mind, I see a girl being late to a function... so she throws on one of these dresses, ties her hair up, and runs out the door looking effortless.

muted tones, urban dwellers and caged pirate lovers
Vena Cava is telling me to go on holiday like you would not believe; Nicholas K- a TFSer described this collection as "Alexander Wang meets Vanessa Bruno meets Rag & Bone" and I totally agree as I see all the elements there (I suppose it's ok, if not very original, since I love all of the three mentioned designers!). Sachin + Babi is subtlety with edge... a caged siren; Jen Kao- A pirate lover, a desert romance.

Excitement: the shows are about to hit the road
The Spring Summer 2011 RTW shows are about to commence and I have four words: Let the pandemonium begin. I might have mentioned it a long time ago, but one of the greatest fashion charms about living in Australia is that technically... we can test the water by picking apart SS runway/beauty inspiration and having a go a good six months before our Northern Hemisphere counterparts! I've taken note of all my pre-show favorites and big name must sees, and am now excitedly wondering what is going to be added to my ever growing summer fashion priority list.

knotted and tied
The video makes me want to go on a Mediterranean holiday, ride vespas and explore quaint towns wearing a Hermès scarf halter top (like they taught you how to tie in the video), white capris and a big floppy hat!
SS10: classic urban gypset prairie wanderer
All fashion designers come up with a campaign direction for every collection they do, and I feel a bit like that as I come up with my own direction for the hot spring/ summer season ahead! I blame it on 'Almost Famous' being on TV last week, and my love for fashiontoast blogger Rumi Neely, but I'm definitely feeling relaxed 70s festival goer/ hippie/ bohème, loose pirate shirts; crochet; fringing and tassles; denim; leather; headbands et al, and will mix that in with my regular classic/urban summer wardrobe. I need to work on a FW counterpart to this though, since I'm going traveling up to the Northern Hemisphere winter (gypset style?)!

j'aime mon carré
Up, down, around... whichever way you like. A belt, a headscarf, a sarong, a top, a skirt or just as a scarf... whichever way takes your fancy. Now that I've found this splendid style project by Hermès, who knows... maybe my own beautiful Hermès scarf (my first!) from Paris will say hello to the world some time soon. I also acknowledge that it is a slippery slope here on in. J'aime mon carré is a true style inspiration- there are seven girls from around the world. Get a peek into their playtime with Hermès scarves.

all the right tones
Simply captivating. First Edita's set, and now that I've spotted Natasha's ed by Karl Lagerfeld and Sasha's set by Greg Kadel... I have no choice but to buy Numéro #116, when it eventually hits Australian shelves! An upper class socialite or a modern urban day warrior. Life choices are tough.

No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace
This Numéro #116 editorial set , Divine Idylle featuring Edita Vilkeviciute and photographed by Camilla Åkrans, almost makes me long for fall to come again. Fall is golden, spring is green... but in my opinion, only one paints the world in a whole different hue.

Alexander Wang Fall 2010
This is a dream. All the elements come together- it's almost film noir, so mysterious, dark and alluring... and she is part tortured soul, part modern day femme fatale. Abbey Lee Kershaw, the star of the video, has some gift of grace, of movement, that always makes her a wonder to watch.

I'm with the band
Spring is slowly creeping up on Sydney, and the sunshine has made me dig through my wardrobe for my light blue denim cut offs again. Well... the weather, my weekend Gold Coast adventure and Conception Day. A big perk of going to Macquarie Uni is the annual Conception Day/ mini music festival/ a lets-go-crazy affair and there's always one big act (good to know uni is putting my tuition fees to good use!). This year Tame Impala is headlining!
My excitement has translated to research on festival gear and I came back with suitably bohemic grungey inspiration:

it's funny how things happen, and I do extend my sincere apologies
I see irony everywhere, and none more than the fact that I announce I am going on hiatus only to find that I have blogged more in the past month than I have in the last year. It seems like with that one post, and with all the free time I have from my current university holiday, I'm rediscovering my interest in all things creative, all over again. Guess when I said sooner rather than late,r I really did mean much much sooner. So maybe I want to live in both the house and the loft after all.
And then, on a more serious note0 to those who have previously contacted me:
I really would like to extend my sincere apologies for being extremely terrible at replying emails! I feel terrible! I don't mean to, but none the less, I am because I didn't check that address very often. (That is, however, not an excuse at all!) But I have since grouped all my email accounts together, so will be much much more diligent in it! For all those who emailed hoped for a prompt reply, I am sorry. I know some of you (advertisers, fellow bloggers et al.) contacted me ages ago, and as I can't tell who is still waiting for a reply from who has since moved on... if you would kindly email me again, I will reply back this time! Promptly too! Promise!
All my love and sorry again,
K

Maybe I was too quick in saying it....
Zara in Australia appears to be coming sooner rather than later! The article in The Australian seems to be quite convinced that Zara is coming in 2011! That's next year! And that H&M is looking into the Australian market. Oh yes, thank you. We're finally getting some of the goodies that our Northern Hemisphere have had for what seems like forever- I can't believe the difference in climate has been such a barrier to entry!
But we shall have to wait and see if something sudden delays them (I'm rather skeptical about time frames in general) and let's hope the prices will remain uniform, i.e. that Zara does not increase its prices to match the comparatively pricey Australian fashions. Along with the great styles that Zara can bring us, maybe the stronger competition can be a form of natural price regulation?

Australia says hi to Victoria's Secret
Just a quick one, big news that I'm super excited about! Australia might not have Zara, or H&M... but we finally have our very own Victoria's Secret! Just read in the newspaper today- first Australian store is in Sydney international airport Terminal 1 and is functional as of last week! Shame it's after customs though, because I'd be seeing someone off at the airport at the end of July and it would be good timing.
However, I did read elsewhere that it will be a travel and tourism shop, so more beauty and accessory product orientated. Baby steps though! We're working our way towards a full blown lingerie store here in Sydney city! I can imagine the masses, the crowds and the lines on opening day (when they get around to opening a store) already! Might even give the Apple crowds a run for its money?

Out with the old, in with the new
It's been forever since I last posted and to be honest, I had lost motivation so that I was pretty much on permanent hiatus. This is a small project, and I love it but sometimes, I found myself making posts that were less about me and my interests and more about well... everything else. So for now, it's back to basics, and on that note, I'm announcing my move to
It only seems suiting as I try to figure out my true interests because I've changed so much over this year and a half I've been gone. More likely than not, I'll come back to this place one day- hopefully sooner rather than later! In the meantime, please come take part in my adventures, my take on style and fashion... and check out my forays into photography on L.A.B! Think of it as moving away from the house for a while to check out the brand new and recently acquired downtown loft space! Welcome!
