Chanel 'The Tale of a Fairy'
Karl Lagerfeld makes the most amazing short films. Made for the 2011/2012 cruise collection, the style of this film- with the use of B&W- for some reason makes me think of those silent films from ages past. Such a glorious idealized fantasy life with a wardrobe of Chanel.

A Dance For One. A Lover's thing.
Those black lace shorts and the sheerness of everything appeals to the romantic in me. This here is a video from Australian brand Lover to showcase their new collection- they found Amber Scott, from the Australian Ballet, to dance for them. I swear, nothing quite shows off grace and beauty like the long lines from ballet.

Alexander Wang Fall 2010
This is a dream. All the elements come together- it's almost film noir, so mysterious, dark and alluring... and she is part tortured soul, part modern day femme fatale. Abbey Lee Kershaw, the star of the video, has some gift of grace, of movement, that always makes her a wonder to watch.

Watch this!
Taylor Momsen shows her (acrobatic?) moves as she escapes the paparazzi after a work out session. I still can't believe she's only 15! I really do have to applaud the Nike viral campaign team for a great fun ad! LOVE it!

The Copenhagen Experience
Watch and feel the mood and look of the Mads Nørgaard- Copenhagen collection. The Copenhagen Experience is his project that's going to run consectively through three of his collections- starting in SS08. His second short film came out in Feb and because Freja-Beha (as well as male model Eddie Klint and co.) is in it, there's no way I'm not blogging about this.
The SS08 video:
which I didn't like nearly as much as "The Copenhagen Experience #2" for Nørgaard's AW08 collection, aka the "Paint it Black" collection. His current work is:
Maybe because it's smoother (as opposed to the choppy cutting technique used in #1, but that's a matter of personal opinion I suppose) or that the pieces are more noir and black. Is it the fact that there is a stronger story behind #2 or simply because Freja gets more air time?

which I didn't like nearly as much as "The Copenhagen Experience #2" for Nørgaard's AW08 collection, aka the "Paint it Black" collection. His current work is:
about simplicity and elegance - confronted by decadence, trying to give decadence an updated meaning. Paris in the early sixties has been important, so has London - Mary Quant, Courreges and Cardin - Bob Dylan playing electric at London Olympia in 1966 - the optimism - confronted by a touch of spleen, weltschmertz. The tone is slightly thoughtful, and at the same time sexy, shiny and elegantly optimistic.

A toast for 2008!
Here's to hoping 2008 will be full of great things, in all areas of your life- whether it's work, school, fashion or just pure fun! That it be be better and more fabulous than 2007! Live and make the most of it! Cheers!
And because I just found it, here's a little preview of the excitement which 2008 is sure to bring! I've got for you a trailer for a greatly anticipated Australian film opening March 8 2008! If you're aware of my endless fascination for a certain Australian model, then you'll probably guess which film I'm talking about. If not, well... let me tell you- directed by Elissa Down, starring Toni Collette, Rhys Wakefield and Gemma Ward: it's called The Black Balloon.
There! How could you possibly not be excited? It looks amazing!

Kaleidoscope dance
My favorite new ad of the moment- the Bonds kaleidoscope TV campaign! There's just some appeal to this human kaleidoscopic affair and well, who wouldn't love dancing around in colorful underwear to those funk tunes!
Isn't it seriously rocking?

Something to look forward to -
TV has been quite dull lately... so I've taken to watching it online! It's the fact that Australian shows are terrible (yes! I said it! I have no loyalty to Australian media at all!), the free to air channels don't buy anything interesting or that some of the shows they buy are so old (how is it possible that they are showing ANTM5 at the moment?). I think I know what's going to be added to my growing list of online shows:
Yes: Gossip girl. I happen to love frivolous shows and since this is from the producers of The OC, it should be light and fun, don't you think? Based on the book series of the same name, by Cecily von Ziegesar, it's about the going ons of teenage socialites from NYC's Upper East Side. It's set to air in the US of A on September 19 (aka soon!) right after ANTM9.
If it's up to scratch, I guess I'll look out for torrents of each episode. Hopefully, it will be as good and OC-like as the teaser looks... and that all their wardrobes will be similarly as fabulous!

Beyoncé and the Balen
Beyoncé Knowles's performance at the 2007 BET awards in that famed pair of Balenciaga robo-gold leggings:
Fashion Orgasm makes a valid and good point:

The visionary SS07 Balenciaga runway vs Beyoncé. I think you all know how I feel about this, but there are more images available at justjared. Judge for yourself.

Fashion Orgasm makes a valid and good point:
Don't those leggings only come in a size negative 1/0/2? I really can't imagine Nicolas Ghesquière customizing a pair just for this booty humpin' performance.Come to think of it, neither can I. Weren't those leggings made for pin-thin model-long legs (as opposed to Beyoncé's bootylicious body)? Quite frankly, I feel she makes this $100K fantasy look more like a dime store reality than anything else. Let's do a little comparison, why don't we?

IN2THIS.
The CKIN2U commercial. Wow. Finally saw it when I walked through the city Myer store a few days ago. I absolutely had to dig it up online to rewatch, even though I hate the name of the perfume. First thought when I heard the name was not the best response- "This is Calvin Klein, not some IM conversation." But this is what I'd call amazing advertising- forced me to look again because it was that good!! And fyi, the scent is very light, very fresh. LOVE it!! Might buy it!! Once again, it proves my point that it's an excellent commercial, no?
Freja looks breath-taking in it!! My favorite? The soundtrack and GOD! The beautiful elevator scene- Those cheekbones. That intense look in her eyes. The smile. She's so fine. As is the guy- actor Kevin Zegers.

The Nominees
The short film by SHOWstudio/Nick Knight for the 2007 CFDA Awards was quite stunning. Featuring Agyness Deyn in Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs with an extremely hot and somewhat psychedelic soundtrack.
A nod to Nick Knight's genius!!
